Interesting topic, nice slide set, fun game with a bit of competition and stickers! We couldn’t see some of the images in the slides though, so maybe make them a bit larger. I think it might help to add labels to the first slide. Some students, such as myself, are looking to begin making connections right away. As it was, there was no way to know who the people on the first slide were and then I couldn’t relate them to the subsequent slides as we went through them. Even when I asked you to show the first slide again, I couldn’t figure out who those people were despite having now seen all the subsequent slides. Overall, very enjoyable lesson. Well done.
It was an engaging and interesting lesson. One of the strong points was the little game you had going on. When you first told me your idea for the game, I couldn't envision it, but it was put together really well and it made us all really think hard about each of the Roman deities and what they represent. It was also just allowing for another form of the knowledge so that people who perhaps are not auditory learners could still latch onto the knowledge, which is something that is typically lacking in social studies classes (I find, at least). My only negative comment is that I think you took too much time on the PowerPoint going over everything. I think you might want to look at your objectives and figure out exactly what you want your students to walk out of that class knowing. Anyways, the lesson was really quite fun and engaging. Also, stickers are always a bonus.
You definitely did a great job with balancing your lecture and your group activity appropriately. Overall, I enjoyed your lesson and I thought it was really engaging. Your game was creative and it was a fun way to test our knowledge from the lecture. The game also sparked some classroom debate, which is always fun!
I though your lesson was great! You did a good job interacting with us as students and allowing me to "argue" my point to winning! I believe as a teacher that is one quality we must all possess, the ability to listen to our students and let them be correct if there reasoning is right. Overall you did a very good job.
For Microteaching II: Very interesting lesson and so fun to participate in. It really let us think, discuss, decide on issues of import that could be related to the government we know. Good use of the time too – plenty of decisions and questions to keep our heads in the game for the full period. And I actually learned something. Very effective overall. I wonder though if you followed the ‘indirect’ method enough, since we didn’t have “question, explore, discuss, main idea” without you leading us.
Microteaching 2 I thought you did a really great job engaging us in this lesson, and there was a lot of information I did not know. I enjoyed being the "General", and I know I said I would throw them to the lions (I don't know if I actually would) but it definitely made us think on our feet. You are very good at commanding attention in the classroom, you look comfortable and relaxed. Overall I think it was successful! Great Job!
